How to choose: power supplies
Sizing a control power supply
Add up the current drawn by every load on the rail (PLC, I/O, sensors, HMI, relays) and choose a supply rated with a margin above that total. Check the output voltage (24 V DC is the usual control voltage), the input range, the mounting style, and whether high inrush loads such as motors starters and solenoids need extra headroom. Allow for derating at high panel temperature.
